About the game

There are fifty lessons across ten levels, starting with the home keys and working up through the top and bottom rows, capitals, punctuation, the number row, symbols, real sentences and a speed and endurance finale, with passages from Aesop, Lewis Carroll, Melville, Shakespeare, Thoreau and Arthur Conan Doyle along the way. Each level is one of the places from Throne Trouble, so you go from Grandma's Backyard BBQ and Cul-de-Sac Calamity all the way to The Moon (Somehow) and The Porcelain Palace, and each one has a boss at the end that opens up the next.

If you're new there's a placement test that starts you at the right lesson, and the game keeps track of the keys you miss so it can build you a Trouble Keys drill out of them. There's also a 60-second Sprint with a daily passage, a random one or a friend's four-letter code, a progress chart, ranks, three stars on every lesson and silver, gold and platinum medals if you want to chase speed, plus a pace ghost that tells you if you're ahead of your best.

Clean typing pays off in dumb ways. Ten clean words in a row is THE FULL MENU, and a long enough streak gets you the odd Special Delivery from the pantry - Beef Jerky turns him into a trampoline, a Mystery Burrito ends in a slow-motion fainting-goat flop and a Mud Pie clears the whole room. Finish a lesson and he gets one enormous send-off, and the stars you earn unlock the rest of the Throne Trouble cast to take his seat.
